Can Text:

The can is a "...Lost"-looking "look at me, I'm different" sort of deal. Lots of motivational poster text like "Freedom", "Motion", "Style", and the like adorn the rim of the can. The only thing missing is a mid-20's single mother-to-be throwing a hat in the air, like Mary Tyler Moore, or an 82 year old Japanese guy climbing Everest (and leaving another bloke on the side to die). The back of the can is for slow learners. They specify x2 per can for everything, assuming that stupid people can't figure out there are 2 servings in a can.

Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
2000mg taurine, 160mg caffeine, and 1200mg glucuronolactone which is a naturally occuring chemical compound which is produced in the liver by metabolizing simple sugars. It has been proven to improve memory retention and concentration, as well as act as an antidepressant. If is often found in energy drinks but is a precurser to its more common replacement taurine.

Von Dutch Sugar Free was a hard one for me to want to try. The outside of every can seemed to have some type of sticky, but dried up beads of nasty all over it. The usual run under hot water didn't really get it off either, so I'm still not too sure what it was. The initial taste was not really too bad. There was a strong earthy aftertaste that was a lot like Chaser. Since the aftertaste made me gag a little, I put off drinking, and of course eventually it got pretty warm. Now the interesting part about this is that I think it tasted incredibly better as a warm soda than when it was cold.

I didn't get much of a jump in energy, but you also have to take into consideration that I sipped this drink over a very extended period of time. Von Dutch sells for the standard $2 in most stores, but for $2 I'd hope for something that doesn't taste like dirt when it's going down.

Jason's Review:
The Von Dutch Sugar Free Energy Drink tasted ok, but the aftertaste was sincerely very bad. The initial taste was liken to Rockstar Sugar Free Energy Drink, but the aftertaste was more like Sugar Free Botchulism.

The energy wasn't enough for me to want to finish the can. I nursed this guy for about 4 hours, hoping the taste would eventually somehow win out over the aftertaste. I can assure you, it never did.

The can is industry standard $2 for 16oz., which to me is becoming less of a value. The more I enjoy Rip It Citrus X Sugar Free and the other Rip It Beverages, the more I realize that quality energy drink should be $1/16oz. Monster Lo Carb is now readily available on sale at gas stations (usually Citgo) for $1.50. Maybe the government needs to look into this source of energy for possible industry price gouging.

At 55yrs.old and very competitive tennis player I found this drink gave me a sustained energy level and enhanced concentration for three hours. Other drinks provided more energy but with a alot of jitters. My focus went through the roof and no shakes during or after matches.
