Can Text:
Sobe has come up with a new energy drink to add to the No Fear family, and it's Gold! This can is so shiny you should be able to see it from miles away. It sports so much bling you might want to hide it for fear of being jumped walking down the street. But as the can clearly states you should have No Fear. The logo and all are the same only this one looks like it has been coated in fake gold foil.
Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
2000mg taurine, 200mg inositol, 174mg caffeine, 100mg ginseng extract, amd 100mg guarana extract.

I wasn't really sure what to expect since the last Sobe No fear sodas weren't really close in flavor or energy. So when I opened it and was rushed with the smell of sewage and passion fruit I was severly disappointed. Luckily the flavor wasn't as bad as the smell was. Not that this was a great tasting beverage but it wasn't horrible. Passion fruit is just not a good flavor in my opinion, but this one was not as bad as some of the others I've had in this flavor category. Gold was very lightly carbonated and I didn't give it a chance to thicken up for fear of the nastiness that may be become of a somewhat ok energy drink. If you're looking for a high energy drink this is not it. A quick look at the active ingredients you'll see that all 16oz of this can has just about as much caffeine as a cup and a half of coffee.

I really can't say enough bad things about this drink. From the packaging to the taste, it's all-around bad. The "No Fear" series as a whole has always seemed a little tacked on. I'm used to seeing "No Fear" stickers on the back of a 1998 Ford F-150 truck, otherwise tastefully decorated with a rebel flag back glass, through which you can make out the faint outline of a hunting rifle, and John Deere hat atop the head of a man who's likely wearing a "Big Johnson" shirt with the sleeves cut off. This mental image does not go hand-in-hand with the Sobe No Fear Gold can, which sports a background design so innovative that Louis Vuitton lawyers should be involved soon, a big gold chain design, and of course a mostly gold can. This can is too fake pimped out for Billy D. Williams.
Things don't improve in the way of taste. I imagine the production notes look something like, "Take all the leftover fruit from a Golden Coral Buffet, mash it up on the bathroom floor, mop it up with 3 week old mop water, ring the mop into an old pickle jar, drop in a couple of Alka-Seltzer for fiz, a 5 lb. bag of sugar to disguise some of the horrific taste, poor into unsightly cans, and serve chilled". If this doesn't sound bad enough, imagine some dookie in there too. As for the actual ingredients, the most amusing is one called sodium hexametaphosphate, which is described being used, "to protect flavor". To me, this is like putting rats in charge of protecting a mass grave of plague victims.
Any energy I got from this soda was quickly consumed feverishly scribbling down bad things to say about it. I had to drink a Twinlab Energy Fuel to find the strength to go on.
Overall, bad package, bad taste, and at best average energy. This is one of the few cases where less is more. I'd give this soda a better value rating if it was 8.3oz. just because I'd have to endure less of it. The only advantage to the larger can is the extra $.0032 additional recycling value.

I took a sip of "Gold" and I recieved a taste of rancid grapefruit. I wanted to kiss my dog's butt to take the taste out of my mouth. I think i"ll drink water from now on.

Sobe No Fear Gold is one of the better energy drinks out there. It gives a great energy boost and it is not a bad taste at all. If you let this review sway your opinion that just means MORE FOR ME =D

This stuff is really good. Simple as that, maybe not as much energy, but definitely delicious, besides who cares if you only get 14842394 grams of caffiene compared to 9097857985079 grams?
