Bacchus-F looks like an old timey medicine bottle to me. The red, white, and blue colors, with the plain blocky font looks like it should have castor oil or some type of hair tonic in it more than an energy drink.
Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
Bacchus-F is specially formulated with a diverse energy sources such as taurine, royal jelly, guarana extract, inositol, multi-vitamin B complex and other ingredients which are intended to provide a positive energy boost.

Wow, talk about great tasting. This drink was totally awesome. I was really worried when Jason picked this one out of the local Korean market. I was very curious to learn where the name came from. The only thing that I could really find was that Bacchus was the Roman equivilant of Dionysus, god of wine and intoxication. I wonder if that has anything to do with the product....
It tastes like a great apple and pineapple mixture. It is not carbonated but goes down very smoothly. The energy level was even pretty good considering the small 3.3oz size. To drink 8.4oz of this beverage would cost you roughly $2. That's not bad when you think of how far this little bottle had to come to make it here. You can also buy this product by the tens for $3.99 on the internet. That's about the same cost of any two energy drinks and the same amount of ounces. The down side to that is that you'll pay a little more than $4 just in shipping.

We obtained the Bacchus-F at an out-of-the-way Korean store, I don't know how widely available it is, but as energy drinks become more popular you may see more of it. This stuff tastes better than candy, I'd drink this if it made me tired. The great part is, somehow, even with it so sweet, it's not thick. Even more surprisingly, it has no carbonation, which most super-sweet drinks have, and mask the thickness of the drink. It does taste much better chilled.
The taste isn't explained, or very apparent when drinking. I taste some apple, and maybe some citrus fruits. Come to think of it, you could probably warm a bunch of this stuff up, and serve it as energy apple cider for the holidays.
Since I felt the rush of energy taking over about 5 minutes after drinking, my only complaint is that the bottle is so small, this still doesn't affect my value rating, because the drink was only 79 cents. You can buy 3 of these for the price of a red bull, and it's going to really get you moving.

When I was stationed in Korea, we would drink this stuff all the time for a quick pick me up. When I came back to the states we would buy it in the oriental stores around town. I haven't had Red Bull, but if it is a Bacchus taste alike, I may give it a try.

My father was stationed in Korea and I acquired a taste for it as a kid. I was told that it was like an herbal medicine to keep your body healthy from getting colds. well, I thought it tasted good. I still buy it once in a while when I go to Korean stores because I still like the unique taste and brings back old memories.

Wow. I remember this drink ever since I moved to the US from South Korea, which was 15 years ago. It did have a different ending letter back then as well. Funny thing though was that I drank this back then more for its taste because I didn't know it was an energy drink back then. I still love Bacchus to this very day. Edited by Jason: They still make the ones with the other letter, this is just the only one that they carry (or carried at the time) at the Korean store on 49 in Charlotte, NC.

I purchased bacchus-F in a korean grocery store a 10 bottle pack for $5.50. I purchased it thinking it had a lot good ingredients and if I didn't like it maybe my husband would. Great value, great taste great feeling though you may need 2 or 3 bottles for energy. I drink a very strong cup of coffee so one bottle may be enough for you. There is also a bacchus-X which is excellent also, it has the same ingredients but includes ginseng.

Yeah, this drink has been around (and very popular) in South Korea since way back, like the 60's. I also remember, when I was young (in the 80's), pharmacies were selling Bacchus-D and grown-ups would drink it when they felt exhausted after work. Today I drank Red Bull for the fist time and my first thought was "this is like.. carbonated Bacchus!" It's true Red Bull is quite expensive (where I live, it's $2.29 at Wal-mart), so with that in mind, Bacchus might be a better option.

Bacchus-D and Bacchus-F are 2 different drinks. I can get both at the international market by my house. The "F" formulation has ginseng, the "D" formulation does not-that's the only difference.

I was in Korea from 96-97 and a local woman gave me a bottle of this. I didn't know what hit me... My wife and I had a wild night and I've been looking for this stuff since then...

Korean markets sold this in the 80's as Bacchus-D. Don't know why it is F now. When I first had a Red Bull, my comment was it was Bacchus with carbonation. This is the original energy drink.

I grew up in Korea and back in the 80's 90's, they sold this in pharmacies and markets as a cure-all for colds, hangovers, etc. I wonder if they had taurine in it back then too, the predecessor to Red Bull - who knew!
