How forgettable is Mountain Dew Amp Traction? Well, so much so that I drank it, the can got moved behind my monitor when I was lighting a fall seasonal candle, and I forgot completely about it for well over a week. I fully believed I was up-to-date on the website reviews until I realized my last review well over a week ago (I know, unacceptable). So, let me start by apologizing for the delay in reviews, blame Moutain Dew AMP Traction, not so much because it's truly to blame, more so that I'm bad at accepting responsibility for my own shortcomings.
On that note, I should also mention that the review was further delayed by an impromptu trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. Despite the Stig constantly shared his displeasure with everything from the spy cameras, which recorded bathroom and shower visits, to his explosive diarrhea, which he got from Duff's Smorgasbord, I had a good time. Too good, in fact, to take the time to write a review of a drink I'd almost completely forgotten existed.
So, what does it taste like? Couldn't tell you, grape soda, maybe? I remember drinking it, and I remember it taking about 5 hours. I believe if had I misplaced it after the first sip, it would be sitting in that very place to this day, and I would have never thought about it again. I probably only finished drinking it because of the visual reminder of the open drink sitting on my desk. Like Pavlov's dog, I'm conditioned to finish whatever is sitting on my desk coaster (my gag reflex proved a greater compelling force, in the case of Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt series of drinks).
In all fairness to AMP, let me say, I don't remember disliking it either. It's like water when you're not thirsty. The energizing stats look better than average, though I don't remember any profound affect. If anything, I'm concerned that AMP Traction may make you mentally black out for the duration of consuming it, as I can tell you intimate details about energy drinks I consumed half-heartedly in 2005.
AMP Traction is the drink no one is talking about, except to say, "Yeah, I think I had that once, but I don't remember...just get a Monster, I know that's good."

Well, at least I got a Mountain Dew product with calories this time. Too bad I wasn't in the mood for grape soda, particularly this not-so-grape soda. It tasted purple, but I'd call it wild berry before I called it grape. If grapes tasted like this, people would put them in yogurt, which they don't, unless they are earnestly disturbed. The taste was fine, in the same way that Dimetapp is fine.
The energizing ingredients look impressive when printed on the can, but, much like the empty words of both current presidential candidates, all the talk fell flat when it came time to make good on promises. I really didn't feel any different, except for the thin layer of what felt like cake frosting that now needed to be sand blasted from surface of my teeth. I don't remember my teeth turning purple, but I wouldn't drink this before going to a job interview. You may wind up looking like a total tool.
$1.99 is too pricey for me, I'd drink these if they are more readily available under Obama's socialist regime.

5Active Ingredients:
Mg / % USRDA, whichever or both (if listed) of the following per serving: 1.5mg/100% Riboflavin, 20mg/100% Niacin, 10mg/100% Pantothenic Acid, 20mg/2% Phosphorous, 148mg Taurine, 146mg Maltodextrin, 124mg Guarana Seed Extract, 80mg Caffeine, 72mg d-Ribose, 17mg Panax Ginseng Extract, 29g/10% Carbohydrates.
Can Text:
In the style of all the other Mountain Dew AMP cans, only this one has a purple and black vertically streaky design. The text on the front is as follows, "Sustain – Maltodextrin – D-Ribose – Charge of Grape – Energy Supplement – 16 FL OZ (1PT) 473 ML – Mountain Dew". The rim of the can reads "Guarana, Ginseng, Taurine, B Vitamins". I like that the pull top is purple, I almost want to collect several and make a necklace or something all the popular kids at school would make fun of. I was fortunate to find a message on the back of the can, and I'd like to share it with you, "The power of amp energy charged with grape and the specially formulated intense combination of maltodextrin and D-ribose. Grab hold and maintain (sustain) through the long haul with focus and control. AMP Energy Traction TM More power to you."

I really love the taste of this AMP Traction. More than the original taste I think. My friends and I will usually make a gas station stop to pick up one of these after a skate/BMX session.
