Five words..."Party Like a Rock Star". If you drink a can, you will certainly be backstage with hot womens all over you, people asking for your autograph, and blow as far as the eye can see.
The can does instruct to serve "super chilled", which I think is good advice for taste purposes.
Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
100% or more of many B vitamins and C vitamins. Also, 1892mg of taurine, 400mg of guarana, 50mg of inositol, 50mg of carnitine, 50mg of eleutherococcus senticosus, 40mg of milk thistle, and 30mg of Ginkgo

If you melted candy necklaces down to a crude sugar syrup mixture and added more sugar to it, you'd have Rock Star Energy Drink. I enjoyed the flavor until I got to the end and it's so sweet, it almost makes your teeth hurt. I could see how someone might be a little nauseated drinking this if you weren't forewarned. Otherwise, the energy level was high, and why not? After all that sugar?
The web address is juvenile. Like the sexual innuendo in the logo wasn't enough, if you visit the website you might get a little face humping action.... Like that one person who always has to spell out a joke and kill it when everyone else got the insinuation.

The drink is pretty good, but I can't get past the "Party Like a Rock Star" slogan. The soda tastes like carbonated cotton candy, which to me is good, like candy with a tingle. This is another sugary beverage, but the taste remains reasonably drinkable even when not ice-cold. Since it's 16 oz. I'm also happy with the amount I get for $2, and I'd put it on par with many of the top drinks as far as ingredients, and energy delivered per can. I do also feel slightly pimp holding the gold-topped can.
You may also notice that the website url ends in "69". Why is that? Why not rosckstar16.com, since it's a 16oz. soda? I think they may have chosen that # for reasons unrelated to the soda.

It's a bit different in the UK, the star is bigger and slightly slanted, and it seems it's slightly cheaper here as well (its 1, which is $1.65, compared to your $1.99).
That aside, the taste is probably the same. It is sweet to the point where it is almost sour, and sets it apart from most drinks, since it doesn't have that distinct citrus taste. You can almost hear your teeth calling "NNNOOOO!" as you take another swig. This was my energy badge of honour before Monster, and then I probably would have given it a 10. After Monster however, it drops to 8. It's still a good drink, that tastes different from a lot of others, and packs a good punch.
But going back to it the smooth taste of Monster reveals a slightly bitter aftertaste in Rockstar.
In all, a great drink. Nice taste, great kick, good value, and the only reason it doesn't score higher on my list is because I gave Monster a 9, and this just about falls short.
A worthy contender though, and i'll be looking out for future products.

I'm not too impressed with Rockstar compared to some others that I have tried. The flavor of this one reminds me of when I was a kid and went to the dentist. They would give you this sweet stuff to gargle that came in different flavors, but would all have the sickly sweetness that almost makes you gag. You still had to swish it in your mouth for such a long time, just waiting for the chance to spit it out before you get sick.
