Can Text:
As is the de facto standard with 180 energy beverages, one side of the can is right side up, and the other is upside down...or is that backwards. Either way, it's a pretty blue color. It looks really frosty, and makes me think my tongue might stick to it if I lick it. This is 180 Blue, subtitled "with Acai". Acai is actually spelled with a funny character, instead of "c". I think RSS may not support that character, so I'm misspelling it on purpose. If you want to whine about it, call Ellen DeGeneres, I think she likes to whine about stuff too.
Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
Affectionately, this can clarifies, and I quote, "contains caffeine". No information about how much or anything. The back of this can is like talking to a Sprint customer service representative, only this can is actually written mostly in English. Over 100% of your daily allowance of Vitamin C, B6, and B12, but nothing impressive here. The can does actually show a breakdown of recommended daily allowances of fat, sodium, cholesterol, carbohydrates, and dietary fiber based on 2000 calorie and 2500 calorie diets. I almost want to keep the can around as a handy electric blue reference.

There's a lot more going on with acai than I at first expected. For one, Wikipedia reports that nearly 1/3 of it's mass is dietary fiber, and if my math is right about 1% is some form of antioxidant. acai berry is amazing, too bad it tastes like "nasty fruit". Apparently acai berry is very popular in Brazil, this is great, because they are welcome to keep all of them, IMHO. Wikipedia also notes that the acai berry goes bad very quickly, perhaps they should consider that the berry may be bad well before it even comes off the tree. The acai palm cries out for a slash and burn project. Perhaps if Brazil knew how good blackberries tasted they could level all wasted acai forest land, and plant something worth eating.
Other than being another Anheuser-Busch taste debacle, this drink provides an energy boost that, by 1999 standards would be considered pretty good, by today's standards average, at best. The new 180 energy drinks are just an ongoing disappointment.
At $1.19, at least this hardly costs more than a 12oz. regular canned soda. Of course, if that soda was a Vault, I might choose that instead. Nonetheless, at least it's not Overpriced.

Well, acai berry is all the rage in the new energy drink market, apparently. The new Full Throttle (nature is a) Bad Mother is also based on the acai berry flavor. This drink tastes ok, but it's nothing to write home about, it's like the Bobby Kennedy of the 180 drink line of beverages (180 Energy X-3 being the Ted Kennedy). If you're an NPR listener, and offended by the Kennedy family being openly ridiculed, I recommend you not drink 180 Blue, because I find its taste to be mildly offensive, and I'm not even a whiney tree hugger. I don't know what acai berry tastes like, so I have no idea of its anywhere close to accurate.
Energy shmenergy, I'd need to drink two to even be aware I'd consumed something other than water.
$1.19 is an ok price, if this tasted a little bit better than what it's been tasting, I'd say it's a good value. But, "all things considered", since it doesn't taste that great and it's not very energizing, it's not an exceptional value, even at $1.19. By my estimation, a free turd is still a turd.
