Jason's Review

This was my favorite for some time, less syrup than the regular Monster, and a lot less calories (important, since I'm watching my girlish figure). I think the Lo-Carb Monster or "blue" monster, tastes a lot like a variation of ginger ale, a light pleasant taste, but not always consistent from the factory (a can from one store may be very flavorful, a can from a store down the road may be fairly bland). This drink delivers a lot of energy for a nearly carb-free beverage. It also provides a host of vitamins, like getting a suppliment out of your soda. Hansen, the makers of Monster, know a lot about energy suppliments and vitamens, as they've been making these products for heatlth stores for years. The value is good, and you can often get these one sale, for as low as $1.25.each, if you buy in the four pack.

There is some speculation that this is the same beverage as Joker Mad Energy Lo Carb. It certainly tastes very close, and the ingredients are nearly the same. If you find Joker on sale, you may save some money over buying the authentic Monster Lo Carb. You also get a can with a cool cracked-out Jester, which Monster has yet to offer.

Guests's Review

The Lo-Carb Monster is a great alternative to the Original Monster. With a fraction of the sugar and even less calories, it's a great way to get a kick and still watch your figure.

I used to buy Monster Lo-Carb by the case. Now I prefer the regular Monster Import. Truthfully, I think I'm just getting tired of Monster all together. They seem pretty full of themselves for a company that only got big because they were smart enough to make a 16oz. can. That's like boasting because you were smart enough not to wet your pants.

Drank Monster Energy Lo-Carb for a while. Decent taste and energy boost before heading into the gym (and the low-carb, makes it all the better before working out, as you aren't wasting the first 30 minutes burning off the calories most the sugar filled ones have).

However, I've switched back to regular (green label) monster. Just don't drink a full can. However, it simply tastes better. I wish they'd make a non-caffinated version do drink when you don't want a caffine buzz. Prefer it to any of the sodas out here.

Mix Monster Lo-Carb with Amaretto (liquor), and you've got a really TASTY drink. Very sweet, fruity/nut taste.

I love it. I understand why some people don't like the taste- it can be an 'acquired' taste, once you get used to it. Doesn't leave an aftertaste like a lot of drinks. The high isn't so high you get jittery or crash. It's even drinkable at room temperature- I sip on mine over a period of about 4 hours to keep me going all morning. I've averaged a little over 1 per day for about 2 years now.

s0uthernCharm@2010-08-31 16:02:08
I received a free Monster Lo-Carb and tried it. First off, the smell was pretty disgusting. Then I tasted it and it was even worse. This has to be the nastiest tasting stuff that has ever been in my mouth. I don't see how anyone can drink it or like it.
MARICELA@2010-08-02 15:16:56
Monster Lo-Carb is so far the best energy drink I have had, it sure does its job and fast.
EpicDino@2010-07-19 17:04:26
They're nasty and have so much sugar and salt in it i would never buy one. Edited by Jason: Monster Lo-Carb has 3 carbs. Is there some public school conspiracy to tell kids to post inane comments related to Monster on our website?
Aimee@2010-07-05 16:40:52
Absolutely LOVE Lo-carb Monsters!! Still get all the energy I need without all the calories!!! Great taste too!
Pandora@2010-05-28 12:36:25
I just had my first Monster Lo Carb and it tastes like a milder Red Bull. The taste doesn't bother me or make me want to throw up. 5/5 stars.
kevin james@2010-05-25 13:08:31
Monster low carbs drink is the best I ever tasted, and it gives me the energy I need. The best on the market. Wish I Could Sell it.
norib@2010-05-13 11:45:17

norib@2010-05-06 14:37:12
I thought Monster Lo-carb tasted like watered down Monster. It's not good at all!
Mencer@2010-04-16 13:21:54
This monster, in my opinion, has the best taste of all the energy drinks. it goes down so smooth and doesn't leave that nasty after taste.
Robert@2010-02-22 21:41:32
I like the taste of this Monster, it's not as strong as the Rockstar low car in blue can.
Boybato@2010-02-18 13:41:37
Monster Lo-Carb is one heck of a drink. It boosted my bench press from 190 lbs. to 225 lbs. for 12 reps. I also recommend this as a pre-sex supplement. You'll have energy the whole night.
ROCKIN' ROB@2010-01-14 14:51:17
Lo-Carb Monsters are the best tasting energy drinks ever!
Put in the freezer for 20 minutes and these baby's rock out loud!!
Enjoy the ice crytals going down with every swallow!
Jake Davies@2009-12-29 10:27:40
Although tasting exactly the same as regular Monster, having the same energy boost and costing the same amount, that is exactly the reason why I would give it a better score.
I have tried too many products whereby the original version is leagues apart from the diet, zero, low carb or low sugar version. I would happily taint my teeth with the sugary original for the original taste. It just seemed no company could disguise that awful bitterness that comes from sweeteners.
However, Hansen Beverages manages to pull off that same taste but have only 14% of the original sugar! If not smoother, I might add.
No doubt there is a myriad of other great tasting low sugar drinks out there, but Monster Lo-Carb was the first drink to open my eyes to the fact a great tasting drink doesn't need a heap load of sugar. If you can enjoy a drink and be guilt-free for the sugar why not? If they can make Monster taste like Monster, With 14% of the sugar, why can't everyone else? I was positive a good fizzy drink needed heaps of sugar but Monster proved me wrong. I'd go so far as to say it's set a standard for drinks to come. It should be a golden rule of energy drinks that if they can reduce the levels of sugar without harming the taste they should. It just benefits everyone.
If you're health conscious, it's got a very low sugar level. And if you're taste conscious it's delicious.
Would buy this over the original every time.

very refreshing, especially when you're out in the hot Arizona heat!!
Tom@2009-11-17 10:51:51
Ugh. How anyone can drink this is beyond me. I generally drink Amp, but I really like Monster in normal and Assault flavors. Wal-Mart was sold out of either yesterday, so I tried this. It tasted vaguely like Monster, but the aftertaste was so awful I couldn't really tell.
