Can Text:

100% Natural Energy Drink. Guru claims to be inadvisable for children (this is a variation from the standard children warning), and of course, not for pregnant women, or people sensitive to caffeine. They also tout Guru as "Human fuel for the active mind and body". Drink cold & shake lightly (which I failed to do the latter). The can is a standard red and tin affair, with very little in the way of Pimpjuice bling bling.

Active Ingredients *Per can, not per serving:
Guru contains 125mg of naturally occurring caffeine, guarana seed extract, echinacea flower seed (This herb is sometimes used as a natural antibiotic and immune system stimulator, helping to build resistance to colds, flu and infections. It is thought to increase the production of white blood cells, and improve the lymph glands. The tea from this herb has been used for infections and has been used in treating skin cancers and other cancers.) Source: Wikipedia, panax ginseng root extract, ginkgo biloba leaf extract.

There are lots of interesting ingredients in this drink. The white grape juice makes it taste pretty good going down, but all the herbal "snake oil" products make it taste not so good after it gets down (like James Brown). It certainly has a cough medicine aftertaste, but on a positive note, the aftertaste only last about as long as the flavor in big league chew.

125 mg of caffeine is pretty good for an 8.3 oz. drink. To be fair to the taste, it is very light and refreshing going down as well. Considering the unique blend of energizing ingredients (finally someone goes off the beaten path), I think this does a good job of disguising most of the mediciney flavor, while offering a unique power-packed 8.3oz. beverage, and all at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for?

Jason's Review:
As long as you keep chugging, you only have to endure the aftertaste once. I'd liken the experience to about 1/10th the intensity of consuming Theraflu. I've never really disliked the taste of Theraflu while I'm drinking it, but as soon as I stop, my face involuntarily contorts into "the disgusted/near vomit face". As mentioned, this is nowhere nearly that intense, but the concept is similar. Drink it all down at once (with your buddies affectionately chanting "chug, chug, chug", as those less mature of us have the need to do at the slightest opportunity), and you'll enjoy all the refreshing, energizing goodness at once. Perhaps a chaser would be in order to get past the Jim Jones Kool-Aid aftertaste.

I found this drink to be energizing. The blend of ingredients didn't particularly sit well with my stomach. (I assume it was the ingredients, could have been the aftertaste making me feel a little sickly). This energy drink has lots of caffeine, and some other ingredients that may boost my immune system, not bad.

After I get past the image of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney selling this off a wagon in small western towns, I can begin to evaluate its real value. Strictly on an energy drink level, the caffeine is considerable, and ginkgo biloba actually does increase my mental prowess. I don't know if Echinacea does anything, but test appear to show conclusively both that it does and does not. I think ginseng is useless, and actually decreases my overall mood (just a personal observation, I'm of course not a doctor, and can only share my experience). For $1.47 this is a really good value. Rarely does a drink get such good marks in everything but taste, but the herbal aftertaste is worth docking several points.

Guru Energy Drink is my current favorite. It comes in 5 different flavors, it's all natural and organic...i've been in love with lemon-lime, green tea and original flavor. lemon-lime and green tea flavors are great because they taste nothing like energy drinks but give you the boost whenever you need it. Oh, and you wont "crash" after drinking it! Love it!
